You may have noticed that we haven’t put out a new episode in a few weeks. This is because Holy Week and Easter kept me busy at my parish and Junius and his family recently bought a house in Memphis, Tennessee and had to move in.
Given the delay, here’s what we are proposing the rest of this season looks like:
May: The Federalist Papers
June: Peter and Wendy by J.M. Barrie (the novel, not the play)
July: The Aeneid by Virgil
August: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
September: The Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare
Those of you who follow me here on Substack may have seen the news that I was accepted into the PhD program in historical theology at Catholic University of America and will be starting this fall. That’s an exciting prospect but I am currently reconfiguring what life looks like to better focus on my studies. Junius has convinced me to keep doing to the Classical Mind, but we are going to set up the next season a little differently.
In the past, we have done a draft where neither of us knew what the other was going to select. This year, we have already compiled a list in discussion with each other.
In the past, we have had a listener’s choice pick. This year, we will omit that. You all have picked some wonderful books in the past and that can be something we bring back in future years.
So look out for our new episode on the Federalist Papers in the next week or two. We will release the Season 4 (!!) schedule later on with a bonus episode in which we explain our underlying reasoning for selecting the books that we will include.
Thanks for following along with us and joining in the discussion!
